Climate Action Schools

Climate Action Schools is an innovative, world-first program that combines LEAN Production Systems with cutting-edge neuroscience to teach students about LEAN Manufacturing methods and how to operate in a high-performance team within a school environment.

This is achieved by focusing students on learning LEAN through real-world activities, by building their school recycling program using LEAN Principles and processes.

The results we have achieved with this program have truly changed young lives and not only saved the schools money but made them money, by engaging the students and staff in LEAN’s continuous improvement processes.

  • Increase recycling

  • Reduce waste to landfill

  • Reduce compostables to landfill

  • Generate non-budgeted revenue - waste to cash

  • Lift student and staff engagement

  • Help meet climate targets

Teacher Professional Development

Teachers can have a profound impact on how their students engage and learn in the school environment and how students will behave once they enter the workforce.

To support teachers, The Industry Factory has developed tailored programs within the industrial technology streams, to learn LEAN Production Principles and our ground-breaking, science-based engagement and team-building tools.

With these tools, they will not only enable students to understand world-leading manufacturing practices but also how to operate as part of a high-performance team. As an added benefit, students can practice these tools in the classroom/workshop settings, delivering a more organised, structured and predictable experience for both the teachers and the students.

These skills will also help teachers prepare their students to transition into manufacturing and industrial roles with the best tools to begin a successful career.

Sustainablity Skills Centres

The Sustainability Skills Centre (SSC) is an extension of the Climate Action Schools program.

It is a custom-built facility where the Climate Action Schools program operates and is designed and built from the ground up to be a ‘LEAN’ production facility.

The cost of the SSC can range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the needs of the school and the site requirements.

The Industry Factory can often help schools connect with local manufacturers who can sponsor the facility construction and ongoing running costs while also building strong relationships with one or more potential employers for the students.

LEAN Essentials/
LEAN Boot Camp

The Industry Factory focuses on giving students the best possible start to a career in manufacturing. The LEAN Essentials/LEAN Boot Camp program is designed to give students similar skills to the ones they get within the Climate Action Schools program or the Sustainability Skills Centre but in a different format. This allows us to cater for students whose schools are not participating in these programs.

We have a number of different delivery formats for the programs including:

School-based programs are designed to deliver training in two different ways, depending on the needs of the students and what best fits with their current curriculum. The programs can be dedicated to students of one particular school if the school has the number of participants to fill a program or run at a host school that hosts students from a number of schools in the local area.

  • Two-hour sessions run every week for seven weeks

  • Two-day program

Community-based programs are designed to deliver training in the same way, depending on the needs of the participants. They can be held at local manufacturing businesses that host the participants or at a community training facility. The community sessions can accommodate high school students, Year 13 students, job seekers and career changers.

Both the school and community programs are open to sponsorship from local manufacturers, community organisations and Local, State and Federal Governments.
